Wedding!! ( super image heavy)

I got married September 12 and never did a picture update! Here goes...
All pictures are courtesy of David Maki and Ty Fischer
Ravi's ring and tie
the boutonnieres (I hand-made them)Ravi's tie and wedding shoes--all the grooms men and the ring bearer had them as well--so cute!I borrowed a necklace from my friend (my hairdresser as well) and she brought over a huge satchel full of necklaces for me to choose from!
I ended up choosing one single pearl to go with my grandmother's pearl earrings.
Ravi and his dad--a tender moment when Ravi gave them a framed engagement photo. My adorable nieces! Ravi's mom handmade their dresses--the bottoms are Sari material!Checking out the dress!YAY!Nicki attaching the flower piece/veil that I hand-made after she curled and pinned. After Nicki finished my hair--she headed upstairs to flat iron Ravi's!
This was his little entourage for the wedding, as well.
Ready to go!!!
All the girls got ready in Ravi's parent's basement, while the boys got ready in his and his brother's rooms. The middle floor was filled with tons of the friends and family from out of town--it was a packed house!
The bridesmaids dresses were from David's Bridal--they were pretty much the only dresses I found that I liked--plus the beading looked like mendhi, so they fit perfectly!
The reveal! The photographers spotted this place on their way to take pics of us getting ready. It is basically an empty lot behind a bunch of stores--it turned out to be pretty perfect!I found these parasols and just had to have them for myself...and all the bridesmaids! After we finished taking pics there, we headed to a place that Sandy helped me scope out before the wedding. It is a lovely park by where we live.
Our neighbor, who was watching Sabin for us, was sweet enough to bring him by for some family photos!
This is my older sister, the mother of the three flower girls, and my matron of honor.
I loved all the girls bouquets, which Sandy, Abby, my mom and I made a few days before the wedding.
I loved my bouquet as well, especially the billy balls (crespedia) and the peacock feathers (a bit of a theme throughout the wedding).

Ravi with Erik, the best man and his best friend since 2nd grade. This is Madeline, a kindred spirit who currently lives near Philadelphia.Amit and Ravi--brehs for life. This is Trish, a friend for many years.Ravi and Ajay, his cousin and video game partner. This is my bff, Sandy, who helped me with everything for the wedding. She is amazing and I love her.Ravi and my brother Alex--Ravi was pretty excited that he got to be taller than him for once.On the Wednesday before the wedding, my mother-in-law threw a Mendhi Party for me! My bridesmaids and mom came and we all got henna from family friends! It was fun and there was amazing food. I love this pic!
Here it is up close--both of our initials are hidden in the mendhi, but you can only see the S in this picture...it's pretty obvious...

Here is Ravi's mendhiHere is the whole wedding party minus the ring bearer--apparently he wasn't ready for pictures...but he didn't walk down the aisle anway, so oh well! He did look pretty cute in his vest, yellow tie, and vans though...The boys! So cute! Ravi wanted our wedding colors to be red, yellow, green, and blue (for the 4 elements), so I tried to incorporate that wherever I could--their ties, the girls flowers, the little people's clothing, the centerpieces, and other decorations that were around the banquet center. I even got all four colors each on Ravi and myself...his tie and his billy ball and peacock feather boutonniere...my shoes, hair piece, and bouquet.
Wedding rings! He had mine custom made and it is amazing.Semi-matching wedding shoes. I also had cute yellow ones I wore for the ceremony, which you can see a flash of in the picture where I'm walking down the aisle.

After we took pictures at the park, the girls headed off to the hall and the boys headed back to Ravi's parents for a traditional send-off from the parent's house. I love all the bright colors that his family was wearing! These are our our parents before the wedding--this part is called the milni, or the meeting of the families. Obviously, they've met before, but it's just a way to show all in attendance that the families are accepting each other into their lives. I didn't get to see any of it, but apparently it was entertaining--because my brother, the tallest (and skinniest) groomsman was picking up Ravi's brother, the shortest (and most muscular) groomsman.Cutey Ravi right before the ceremony was about to start!Ravi walking down the aisle with his best man.Abby stood in as the ring bearer--he was feeling super shy! Here is a better picture of the ring bowl.
It had the date and The Luckiest imprinted--as well as a sweet branch design to go with our centerpieces!
Here are the cute yellow shoes! And me walking down the aisle! My parents both walked down behind me--the aisle was pretty narrow--I would have preferred they walked with me, but we dealt with what we had!
We did the unity candle ceremony because I knew it was really important to my parents, but the rest of the ceremony was Hindu.
We made all sorts of circles around the fire, each representing moral sense and duty, pursuit of wealth, fulfilling desires, and salvation.
We also took seven steps together which represented livelihood, strength, health, prosperity, pleasure, happiness, and harmony
However, we didn't really know what we were doing most of the time.
We only met with the pandit a couple times and never ran through what would actually be happening.
But, he explained everything along the way and it was very special. And auspicious.
He literally used that word at least 8 times the first time I met him and 10 during the ceremony...that's why I'm laughing in like half the pictures of us during the ceremony. However, this time I think I'm laughing because his mom threw rose petals down my dress...
Here you can sort of see the centerpieces as well as the mandap (what we got married under) which was hand-made by his mom!
YAY!! We're finally married!
Here are some of the formal pics we took with our families.
And one of just the two of us.And here is our amazing food!! We were super stoked because they cooked all vegetarian/vegan food for us! We had four different kinds of salads, eggplant parmesan, stuffed zucchini, pumpkin ravioli & cheese ravioli, nut crusted portabella mushrooms with pesto, bean casserole, stir fried veggies with tofu and mixed vegetables! We also had PIE for dessert! Unfortunately, they didn't get a pic of all the pies--but we ordered about 45 and they were ALL GONE! I didn't even get a piece! But they did look cute along with the baklavah and jalebi that were alongside!
First dance: Chuck Ragan
(I love the two little girls behind us--they had their dancing shoes on!)
Here was our adorable ring bearer.
Dancing all night long! It was an amazing mix of Bangara and 80's! And EVERYONE was dancing!
Some of the details:
I got the frames, easels, lanterns, and fabric on the escort card boards from Ikea.
We also handmade all the centerpieces. I got bottles from Ikea, pebbles from Lowes, branches
from Nettleton Hollow, and green and yellow beads, crystals, and hydrangeas from Michaels. Then, Sandy, Abby, my mom, and I spent MANY afternoons stringing all the beads, crystals, and flowers and tying them to the branches. Then we finished off the bottles with raffia wrapped around part of it. They sat on top of mirrors surrounded by 6 big tealights, also from ikea, and then we named all the tables after our favorite things, like bike rides, road trips, H&M, Wes Anderson, Ben Folds, Reading, etc. This is the best pic I have--I love that we were able to take all of the stuff we used for the wedding and incorporate it into our home!
I decoupaged four lanterns to get all the colors in.
We printed 10 engagement pics from David Maki and Christina Ryall
(one of our close friends who took cute pics with our pup!).
Our guestbook also included lots of color.
Then, my dad found 3 old cookie tins that I painted and made into a time capsule! Guests could write what they though we'd be doing in 1, 10, and 25 years. The escort card boards were just a piece of particle board from Lowe's that I covered in four different types of fabric (which included the four colors) and then I got a paper punch in the shape of tags and punched out four different colors of tags and hand wrote everyone's names and table name and then my bridesmaids helped me tie string and alphabetize them on the boards!
I loved them!
Our friend, Luke Sedmak, designed our Save the Dates, Invitations, Ceremony Cards, and Favor Cards.
He is amazing!!!
I never could have asked for someone better--he knows us and knew what we wanted with very little direction.
These had pictures on the back of our dog and two cats, as well! So they were included, even though they couldn't be there!

We enjoyed picking out quotes to put on everything--so the back of these read
"I never had a place that I could call my very own, but that's all right my love because you're my home"
--Billy Joel
The invitations were absolutely perfect, but the battery on my camera is charging, so I'll have to post them later!

Here is our amazing cake topper and cake! We also included the pets here!
Our friend made the cake, an xbox, wii, and nintendo ds. The cake was lime with coconut frosting! YAY!

I know this was insanely long, but it was hard to choose from over 1000 photos! Thanks for reading!
